<p>Frances DeLisle is the nom de plume of Karla Hailer, a recovering journalist, a former professional fifth-grade teacher, and an author of distinction. Her venture into steampunk fiction began when one of her students stumbled upon the first chapter of her Upper Middle Grade/Young Adult steampunk tale in the classroom printer. (Pro tip: do not name your home printer too similarly to your classroom printer.)</p><p>Karla has been a devoted participant in National Novel Writers Month for more years than she cares to recall. She serves on the Executive Committee of Boston NaNoWriMo and, for 15 years, she spearheaded a Young Writers Program in her classroom to nurture the next generation of storytellers.</p><p>Under the guise of Frances DeLisle, she publishes her work first on Ream Stories, then on Substack, before compiling and editing them into a novel for formal publication.</p><p>Her most recent publication is in the anthology, "Bolts of Fiction."</p><p></p>
