<strong>Rambassun Sewpal </strong>is a leading Mauritian architect whose work and practice are defined by a profound integration of ecology, social responsibility, and technical excellence. A graduate of the University of Greenwich’s combined Architecture and Urban Design programme, his foundational interest lies in creating a symbiotic relationship between the built and natural environments.<br><br>His career spans international practice, focusing on projects that range from bespoke domestic designs to complex public institutions. As a former Architect/Client Adviser for the Ministry of Housing and Lands, he pioneered adaptable and flexible housing typologies for national subsidised programmes, directly addressing community needs. This public-sector experience, alongside work on high-profile projects like the British High Commission Mauritius, has equipped him to navigate challenging briefs and deliver for demanding clients.<br><br>Beyond practice, Rambassun is a committed educator, having taught at both the University of Greenwich and the University of Mauritius, and a trusted advisor on planning and environmental issues for various organisations. His expertise is further broadened by an MSc in Real Estate & Property Management from the University of Salford, informing a holistic view of project viability and development.<br><br>He is a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and is registered with the Professional Architects Council (PAC) in Mauritius. His sustained commitment to the advancement of the profession is demonstrated through his extensive service on key regulatory bodies. His tenure includes serving as a Co-opted Member of the Mauritius Association of Architects (MAA) council (2013-2015), a Council Member (2021-2023) and subsequently Vice-Chairman (2023-2025) of the Professional Architects' Council (PAC), and representing the PAC as a Council Member on both the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), the Building Control Advisory Council (BCAC) from 2022 to 2024 and as a Board Member of the Construction Industry Authority (CIA) in 2024. He currently serves as Chairman of the Circular Economy Platform for the Construction and Real Estate Sector for the Construction Industry Authority (CIA) and as the RIBA Country Co-ordinator for Mauritius.
