<p>Rosemary Foster grew up in Graaff Reinet, the “Gem of the Karoo”, in the 1960s. Her book, <em>Staying Small</em>, is a work of fiction inspired by her own, somewhat unusual, childhood experience in Graaff Reinet as a pre-teen. Although Dr Foster has spent much of her adult life living and working overseas, she finds herself inextricably drawn back to the Karoo. She loves writing, and <em>Staying Small</em> is her second published book. Her first book, <em>All Which is Truth</em>, is a non-fiction account of nineteenth-century murders in Scotland.</p>
