About the author
Trude Helén HOLE
TRUDE HELÉN HOLE is a Norwegian author known for her exciting and humorous books about the unconventional Lotte-Marie, the feminine answer to Harry Hole by Jo Nesbø and Varg Veum by Gunnar Staalelsen. So far, Hole has written more than 30 books, both novels, non-fiction and documentaries in both English and Norwegian - among them 21 books on the topic of wine. But she is also an entrepreneur with her own media agency and publishing house, as well as a journalist, sommelier, speaker, lifestyle coach and trainer with more than 18 years of experience in elite sports and coaching.
As a trained sommelier, Hole managed a Norwegian wine import company for more than six years before she began working as a wine journalist and speaker. She produced Norway’s first TV series about wine as well as Norway’s first digital wine courses. To this day (PER 2025) she has worked with wine for three decades and have written more than 20 books on the topics of wine, both in Norwegian and English.
Over the past 29 years, Hole has gained versatile experience within leadership and management, brand- and image building, organizational- and self-development, PR and communication. She is a member of the of the Mindvalley in California where she has studied the art of manifestation and has participated in courses organized by Erickson Coaching International, an award-winning educational provider (ICF International Coaching Federation). She is also a trained coach that has worked with international elite athletes as well as children's sports for more than 18 years.
Her articles about "Leadership and self-management through inner motivation" are widely used in management and academic literature in Norway, as well in her own books. Based on this, and her studies of history, journalism and psychology, and her articles about leadership and self-development, she offers funny, motivating and reflective lectures. Hole is regularly invited by Norwegian TV to speak on various topics within her expertise.
The author's vision for a good health is the following; we need to go back to our roots and start using common sense and ancient wisdom. Our bodies are meant to be active - we must distance ourselves from pacifying and degrading technology and find our way back to our human qualities and natural place in our healing nature of which we are a part of. Maintaining a healthy body, spirit and mind requires a holistic approach that addresses our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
In the series about leadership and self-management you will find a wide range of areas within health - although each book is specifically aimed at its theme within health, both physical and mental, and emotional - the holistic view is the common thread in this series.
Norwegian record for her debut. Trude Helén Hole had her first article published at the age of thirteen and has written articles for several magazines ever since. As a little girl she made an early decision to become an author. Her first novel was finished in 1994, but 12 years went by including some years in Australia where she worked with horses. Back in Norway she worked 6 years with wine before her first novel came in 2006. The Truth about Lotte-Marie sold 6000 and set a Norwegian record for a debutant.
The books about Lotte-Marie are UNISEX. Good entertainment and humor are universal - laughter, irony, intelligence, romance, sex, mysteries and crime are good readings for both men and women of all ages. The character's complexity and strength is fascinating, but even the strongest can become fragile and insecure. This changing shift in a human being and what possibly causes it, is what makes a person and a story interesting. Important questions regarding societal development and human behavior is also highlighted, which makes the books highly socially relevant.
In this series, the author shows that she masters both balancing strength and vulnerability, humor and seriousness. Her pen is fast, steady and easygoing and her texts are unique both in form and content. This author has almost created her own literary genre with her books about Lotte-Marie.
