Sarah Welk Baynum

Sarah Welk Baynum draws on an extensive equestrian background as the inspiration behind her novels. Her experience includes working as a working student in Ocala, a show groom, barn manager, and a FarmVet employee in both Wellington and Ocala, Florida, along with other roles across the horse industry.<br>​​​​​​​<br>She earned a degree in Equine Business and Facility Management from Otterbein University and later spent over five years working as a veterinary technician caring for dogs, cats, and other small animals.<br>​​​​​​​<br>Writing has been part of Sarah’s life from a young age. At seventeen, she won a horse-related creative writing contest, earning enough prize money to buy her first car—and, more importantly, a way to get to the barn.<br>​​​​​​​<br>Today, Sarah continues to ride and compete in show jumping and eventing. Horses have been central to her life since the age of twelve, and while her first horse was a gelding, she admits to a strong preference for mares.<br>In addition to writing novels, Sarah works as a freelance writer for equestrian publications and brands.<br>​​​​​​​<br>She lives just outside Columbus, Ohio, with her husband, dogs, cats, and her two mares—Tilly, a spicy chestnut warmblood, and Letty, an equally spicy off-the-track Thoroughbred.
