Unholy Craving: A Forbidden Gay Romance (Sinful Natures Book 1) Kindle Edition
Until a young man resurrects the sinful nature I’ve rejected in my strive for purity.
Isaac Van Dusen, my pastor’s son.
He’s troubled. Rebellious. Off limits to my lonely heart, yet gives me breath when I feel I’m drowning and in need of a savior.
Isaac’s hunger for sin rivals mine, the kind that consumes.
Burns like fire and brimstone.
I’m determined to stay in a constant state of prayer, begging for delivery from temptation—all while dreaming of being on my knees for entirely different reasons.
I want to submit to the unholy craving between us and worship the young man entrusted to my spiritual care.
But acting on the lusts of the flesh ensures our fall from grace, and I can’t allow him to be the second one to pay the price for my sins.
Even if it means living a lie for eternity.

I loved this book. Malachi is so into trying to follow his religion that I could feel his pain as he thinks of Isaiah and as he slips. Isaiah is a free spirit who is just waiting to leave the parental nest. He has no use for what his father preaches but does not practice. I could understand that. There is a lot of pain. I do like that Isaiah shows Malachi the way out but not without potential loss. When Malachi finally discovers his joy, I went wild. I was like yes, yes, yes.
I liked Isaiah's mother. She was cool. I also liked Jennifer. She truly was not one to judge. She gives a lot of support to Malachi.
I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
Isaac's father is one of those unaccepting pastors. He preaches about it, tells his fellow church members how sinful it is. He doesn't understand his closed off son, and he asks Malachi - who will be the youth pastor in his church - to talk to him and find out what's bothering him.
Isaac knows he's gay, and he hides his sexuality for his friends and his family, knowing his father won't ever be able to accept that part of him. He can't wait to turn eighteen, so he can be free and lead his own life, preferably in Nashville, where he will try to find ways to be a musician, talented as he is.
When Isaac meets Malachi, there's an instant attraction, and that's the beginning of a want and a need both men never experienced before. And the more Isaac flirts with him, and the more he tells Malachi he wants him, the more Malachi prays to be strong so he can deny his feelings and won't be tempted to do something sinful. But the longer he waits, the more he wants Isaac, until he can no longer stay away. The sexual tension between them was there between the lines, almost on each page. It grew stronger and stronger, until neither man could stay away from the other. So when they finally give in, there's heat and want and pure lust, built up from all these days of longing and pining for something forbidden.
This felt real. Some readers may find Malachi's struggles repetitive, but I found them realistic. It wouldn't have been if he could have set his strong believes and his faith in God, aside just like that. Of course he struggles. Of course he tries to deny what he feels. It's all he's been taught to believe. He doesn't want to sin, doesn't want to give into his weakness. Be strong. Pray. Stay hopeful for God to show you the way.
Of course there's a hea. But the path that leads to it, is hard and tough, and both Isaac and Malachi suffer to get there. In the end, it makes it all the more rewarding.
My first book by Lynn Burke, and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to read the second book in this series!
Malachi and Isaac’s story is to me what true love is about. The reasons to never be together sound solid on paper, but in the real world when a love this beautiful and pure comes along you should grab onto with both hands and not let go. Like recognizes like, and these two are just made for one another. Their passion for one another is tangible. The pain Isaac goes through turning 18, and coming out to his father is heartbreaking and more so when he realizes he lives his faith better than his father. The growth that Malachi and Isaac go through together and the HEA ending is so good. If taboo romance is your thing, then I highly recommend this book.
