K. A. Laity
<strong>K. A. Laity</strong> is an award-winning author, scholar, filmmaker, critic, editor, and arcane artist. She has appeared on BBC radio and NPR talking about magic, witchcraft and surrealism. She has decades of experience reading tarot. Her creative workshops are offered through Visionary Fuel. Her podcasts include <em>Surreal Noir</em>, <em>Is It Funny?</em>, and <em>Irreverent Tarot</em>. Dr Laity’s current research includes medieval Scots, crime fiction & films, medievalism and the writings of Leonora Carrington. She was Associate Professor of English at the College of Saint Rose until its closure in 2024.<br><br>Her film <em>Nephomancy </em>(2024) is currently in film festival selection competition (semi-finalist twice, one selection). Her short experimental film <em>Pomegranate</em> debuted at the 2023 Albany Film Festival, and <em>A Fire Ritual for the Heart </em>was featured in the 2021 <em>Silent Fire </em>exhibition co-curated by the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and Nasty Women Connecticut. Her art has been appearing in galleries across the northeast including <em><strong>Arcane Alchemy</strong></em>, a joint exhibition with Stephanie Johnson.<br><br>Her fiction includes <strong><em>Chastity Flame, The Mangrove Legacy, Lush Situation, Love is a Grift,</em> <em>Satan’s Sorority</em></strong>, <strong><em>How to Be Dull,</em></strong> <strong><em>White Rabbit</em></strong>, <strong><em>Dream Book</em>,</strong> <strong><em>A Cut-Throat Business</em></strong>, <em><strong>Owl Stretching,</strong></em><em> </em>and <em><strong>Pelzmantel. </strong></em>She has edited <em><strong>My Wandering Uterus</strong>,</em> <em><strong>Respectable Horror</strong>,</em> <strong><em>Weird Noir,</em></strong> <strong><em>Noir Carnival</em></strong> and <em><strong>Drag Noir,</strong></em> plus written many short stories, scholarly essays, songs, and plays.
