Stakes Are Raised

In the previous book, Lily is stabbed by Emma Perkins in the stomach. Lily is dying and Bryce saves Lily by turning her into a vampire. Lily is allowed to continue at Grimalkin Academy. Lily is hopping she will find a better way of life than the one she would of had in the vampire hunter’s guild.

Lily is upset that Emma still gets to attend the Academy. Lily’s father has a lot of power. Emma’s only punishment is that she has to wear handcuffs and have a guard. This makes Lily want to prove that Emma is part of a plot to destroy Dimitri. Then hopefully she will get a proper punishment. Lily decides she wants to be a double agent and take down Emma and the group that wants to destroy Dimitri and Ashryn. She wants to do the right thing. She wants to try to make up for all the deaths she caused in her past. Will she be able to infiltrate the group successfully? Will she be able to take down Emma and the traitorous group before they strike? Will Dimitri finally trust her?

Lily has visions of the future that always come true. Lily has a vision of Ravi escaping. Once Ravi escapes she knows he will come to kill her and Ashryn. Lily hopes the visions will stop after she is turned into a vampire. Unfortunately the visions do continue. When will Ravi escape? Will they be able to stop him from killing more vampires?

Lily and Bryce have a wonderful connection. It is enjoyable watching them fall more in love. Bryce is very sweet and protective. They have a fun and delightful bond together. They enjoy playful banter and flirting as they explore their romantic relationship. Their pasts may have shaped them but together they are better. They can overcome all obstacles in their way together. They understand and compliment each other.

The world that the author has built connecting characters from different books is amazing. This is the second book in the Grimalkin Academy Stakes. The story flows from beginning to end. There is intrigue, suspense, and mystery to keep your on the edge of your seat turning the pages. The ending will have you wanting more now! I cannot wait for the third and final book of the series.

In the previous story we got to know Lily, and how she is reforming her life among vampires since the Vampire Hunting guild she was a part of has imploded, and with its destruction came an end to life as she knew it.

Lily is a fascinating, intelligent and complex character… honest with herself even when it hurts. She and her bodyguard Bryce have discovered they have more in common than they ever imagined, but now they face the reality that doing good isn’t always easy.

This is a storyline that entertains throughout the pages and is the second in the series. The characters are engaging and kept me turning the pages.
