"The smug expression on her face would tell me something is up…”
"The smug expression on her face would tell me something is up, except that she always wears it when she's talking to me."
Ella has been a wonderful friend to Rapunzel and Briar in previous stories, but here she and her prophecy take center stage as she realizes her father never told her how it ends.
Florian starts as a seemingly reluctant dance partner in class, but the more we get to know him the more we see a true friend, someone who can be relied on in tough situations, a man with a good heart and a solid ethical core... a wonderful match for our Cinderella, if he can help her with her prophecy when it suddenly unfolds.
I was gifted with a copy of Pumpkins and Prime and chose to share my thoughts.
Out of the Box Retelling
Ella has a difficult time accepting her prophesy as she is more focused on helping her friend Marigold with hers. I enjoyed this creative rendition of the Cinderella story. The kiss at midnight, seeing mice and a pumpkin and other traditional story key points. The fact that our Ella is non caucasian is a huge seller. I love variety in my characters. I enjoy the spice and out of the box thinking. This story has all the good feels as well.
Another sweet book from the Grimm Academy
In this book we mainly follow Ella (as in Cinderella) as she attends the Academy, meets Florian, and stumbles into her curse. But we also get a few snippets from other stories. I think we met Red from Red Riding Hood, and we get more info on Marigold (The Frog Prince). It’s a light, clean, sweet story that’s an easy read for when you just want to read something nice.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
