Macey asked Amber if she was sure the golden egg she held in her hands was really a dragon egg. Amber told her she it was going to be her pet! With her own wonderful partners – wraiths Cam and Flint, incubus Jared, selkie Ronan, and daimon Luc, she had more than enough company and didn’t need a pet. Macey offered to go with her to the library to get information on raising a dragon. Unfortunately, Amber chose to take the egg with them in case it hatched. At the library, Macey went through a book of 350 kinds of dragons to find which one matched the egg. Amber continued the search for how to care for a baby dragon. When Amber let out a scream, Macey put the egg down and ran to help her friend. Amber had tripped over her own feet and clutched a bookworm in her hand, a larger caterpillar type creature that absorbed the knowledge in the books. She put the bookworm back on the shelf and they walked to the desk. Macey saw a crack in the egg and, as she held it, it vibrated and a green snakelike critter with scales slithered through the hole in the shell and wrapped around the egg’s exterior! As a beithir, Amber spoke “serpent” and they decided to ask the creature what it was. The snake said it was an orphic egg. The librarian told Macey that according to Ancient Greek mythology, the very first god hatched from the orphic egg; Phanes, a hermaphroditic god, then created all the other Greek gods, including Zeus. If there were more than one, it would start creation again and herald a new beginning – and possibly the end of everything that had already existed before! A world-egg such as that could bring devastation to the world as they knew it! Would Macey and the other Wardens have to save the world this time? The story got more and more exciting as Macey and Amber found out what kind of egg they had found! By the time Macey got back to Amber, the snake had wrapped around her wrist instead of around the egg. Will that be a complication? Are they ready to deal with the orphic egg? Grab your copy and find out what all of this means and if they can defend against what may be coming!

This is a short novella that takes place after book seven. While I think it can be read as a standalone it really should be read after reading the series. If you like paranormal reverse harem books, you'll enjoy this one. Just when Macey thinks they finally have the peace and quiet, Amber is gifted a dragon egg from Izban. Only the egg isn't a dragon and it may cause a threat to the world. The wardens have no choice but to figure out what the egg is and if its evil. Macey is taken back by Amber getting an Dragon's egg from Izban. They decide to go to the library to learn more about the dragon's egg and other information. While there, something is happening to the egg. Macey decides to speak to someone about it. Turns out it might be a something they don't want to hatch. They take the book and go home. They explain the situation to the guys, try to figure how to stop what is happening. When the Macey speaks to the being in the egg, she knows she has to do something. This was a good story, there some funny moments in this book, the ending is not what I was expecting. Enjoyed reading this.
