3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 111 ratings

A quirky vampire on a mission to find a missing watch. What could possibly go wrong?

When vampire, Lucy, is finally hired to do some proper private investigating, she uncovers a plot far deeper than she expected...and far more dangerous. If she doesn't figure it out, vampires as a species could end up exposed. That's if she doesn't accidentally reveal them first.

And as if going on a date wasn't stressful enough, Lucy's Noble fiancé has made a reappearance, and he's brought a rather distasteful present with him.

Fangs For Nothing is book one in the complete Vampire Detective urban fantasy romance series featuring a quirky vampire lead, a sweet poly romance, and plenty of light-hearted fun.

This book opens with Lucy having a phone conversation with her sort of fiancé William Williamsbourgh III. The conversation appears to be routine for them, he asks if she's coming home soon, followed by is she ready to marry him yet. Apparently he was a day late in asking and she's still holding it against him almost a hundred years later. While that's not a bad start to her day it's about to go downhill. First her blood supply is the wrong type and she's paying too much for that to happen, followed by a mysterious caller with a riddle, then a package is delivered out of nowhere. As she debates the possible contents she lists some of Williams gifts. I started giggling and really didn't stop for a while. The package contained one very quick fur ball of black cat.

We meet her friend Derek, the one William had referred to as someone she might be dating. Then a friend of William's shows up in the middle of the night wanting her help to find a watch.

It's that case that is going to open up a whole can of worms and also has her working with a childhood friend Watson Xavier Smith.

There's a lot going on in this book and it's so much fun. I laughed out loud many times especially where William and either Derek or Watson were involved. Lucy is certainly in over her head.

It's the ending of this book that had me immediately buying the next one. Oh my!

I like Lucy and her men fine, but there isn't much mystery for a detective novel. Lucy is more preoccupied with her love life, or lack thereof. It also kind of just ends. There isn't enough suspense to really count as a cliffhanger. I'll probably read the next book eventually, but I'm not in a rush to do so.

This tale was interesting and was a good first book in a new series. It does end on a sort of cliffhanger in the sense that there are questions left unanswered. Its does make me want to know what comes next for these characters, though.

I always enjoy a detective, and add in the vampire thing, and it can be fun. Unfortunately, I did not find this book to be very engaging. I did not feel like the author made me care about these characters enough to want to read the next book. The writing style was adequate.

    Nice , fun read.

Our heroine has a case that means a lot both to her career and vampires in general. Of course, that also means it is important to those who oppose her...

This is book one of the series which is, of course, a good place to start.

This is a paranormal reverse harem story with a vampire heroine. The story is well written and easy to read and provides an excellent introduction to the characters. The cast is diverse, each with their own agenda and pretty much all of them interested in our heroine. It also provides a far introduction to the setting, although there is a lot more to it than shown here. Overall, a fun and intriguing start to our story. I am definitely looking forward to more.

    Highly recommended.

Lucinda, William, Dereck and Watson.... quite the characters! Lucinda (Lucy) and William are sort of engages, Dereck is the guy who makes cool gadgets for Lucy and Watson is another PI who she does not get on well with. In this story Williams has been sending peolpe her way with jobs to locate missing things... not real PI cases but she appreciates the thought behind the case. She really does love William but is not ready to settle down. Between the trio of guys now wanting her attention Lucy finds the watch in question but it ends up leading to more questions. Oh my goodness don't forget her new blind cat that was given to her.... not sure why yet or who it came from but he's lurking around the mansion and loves belly scratches from the guys! The lil cutie has wiggled his way into Lucy's heart.
This was a fun read and there are 2 more to go! Looking forward to the book 2 and hoping it answers a few more questions!!! Enjoy!

I don’t get why people think this was funny. It was just inane and childish. Vampires over 109yrs old acting out like embarrassing teenagers over friendships and dating. Sorry, give this a pass, there are a lot better books out there.

This could have been very funny and interesting but it just missed the mark. Nothing really gelled, and the characters were sort of one dimensional and boring. It ended in what would have been a cliffhanger if it was interesting
