Life grows in unexpected places
Being called to Egypt for the pharaohs burial process is quite the adventure, all Anubis Blessed are called in for this, and it’s quite the eye-opener for Ani. She gets to see her mentor again, makes friends with his previous student, deals with all kinds of rumors and dislike, and then takes charge of a part of the burial process. Nick arrives earlier than expected, which is a great stress relief for Ani. They are learning a lot while in Egypt assisting with the pharaohs death preparation’s and make an ally of the future pharaoh… it also brings Nik and Ani closer together. So looking forward to the next episode.
I loved it
I loved reading this part of Nik and Ani’s story. The change of pace and plans that come from going to Egypt were fun for me to read. There was some overlap with Iset’s story where I second guessed myself because I wondered if I read a certain part already before I realize it was a different viewpoint for the scene.

9th Book and Still Going Strong
Nine books in this series and it is still going strong. Okay, I’m addicted to Ani - it’s like watching a favorite sitcom and loving the main character. Her personality is so open and she loves working with the dead. A bit morbid to consider but otherwise a great story. And meeting new characters and revisiting the older ones brings a smile. Plus I try to see if her story matches up to the spin-offs. And they have so far.
